The course will award 3 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD Scheme of the Royal College of Radiologists. A course certificate will be provided.  

 

Payments can be taken by card or by raising an invoice.

Course Content

Your Role and Responsibility as a Referrer

  • Know where to access suitable x-ray referral criteria.
  • Key staff roles and responsibilities defined in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000.

Types of Radiation and Typical Doses

  • Appreciate harmful effects of ionising radiation, including the potential biological effects.
  • Be aware of the range of radiation doses from different x-ray examinations.

Risk Versus Benefit to the Patient

  • Principles of Risk versus Benefit.
  • Awareness of alternative imaging examinations and when to consider.
  • Where to seek advice including radiology department relationships.
