The Leader Within Training Programme For Radiographers

Online Leadership Development for Band 5-7 Radiographers.

The Leader Within is a live, online practical leadership development programme created specifically for Band 5-7 Radiographers. Participants will learn how to understand themselves more deeply, recognise how they respond under pressure and develop practical ways to communicate, engage others and lead with greater confidence and intention.

You do not need 'Leader' in your job title to be leading. Every time you manage competing demands, reassure an anxious patient, support a less experienced colleague or speak up when something does not feel right, you are already demonstrating leadership. The programme helps participants recognise and build on the leadership they already bring, whilst developing the awareness and practical skills needed for the next stage of their journey.

The programme has been endorsed by the Society and College of Radiographers CPD Now Scheme.

The course fulfills the requirements of the HCPC Leadership Standard of Proficiency (8.6-8.9) namely:

8.6: Understand the qualities, behaviours and benefits of leadership.

8.7: Recognise that leadership is a skill all professionals can demonstrate.

8.8: Identify their own leadership qualities, behaviours and approaches, taking into account the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion.

8.9: Demonstrate leadership behaviours appropriate to their practice.

Programme Content

'Leadership from the inside out'

Clinical knowledge helps us decide what needs to happen.

Leadership asks us to consider how we show up whilst it is happening.

Across two facilitated, live online course days, participants explore leadership from the inside out.

Day 1

Day 1 focusses on self-awareness and builds the foundations of self-agency.

Participants explore:

• How their thinking influences their responses
• The role emotions play in workplace situations
• How the nervous system responds under pressure
• How greater awareness creates more choice in how to respond
• How to recognise when they are becoming closed, defensive or reactive
• Practical ways to pause, reframe and respond more intentionally

Day 2

Day 2 focusses on communication and engaging with and leading others.

Participants explore:

• How to adapt their communication to different people and situations
• How to engage and support colleagues
• How to approach difficult conversations
• How to give and receive feedback more effectively
• How patterns of behaviour can affect working relationships
• How to help bring out the best in themselves and those around them

What participants will gain:

• Greater self awareness and confidence in their leadership ability
• Practical ways to respond more intentionally under pressure
• More effective communication and working relationships
• A stronger foundation for teamwork and future career progression
